Peter Giri’s musical career began as a member of Cowboy, (under his real name, Pete Kowalke), a Southern country rock band signed to the legendary Capricorn Records. Known for heartfelt lyrics and amazing harmonies, Cowboy has often been credited with originating the sound later adopted by the Eagles and Poco. The band toured with the Allman Brothers on the East Coast for two years while gaining a devoted following nationwide.
Since then, Peter has mellowed into a gifted songwriter and performer in his own right, whether performing solo or with his band. Peter is also known as a masterful interpreter of others’ songs—and these interpretations are never just “covers.” You’re never going to hear the same old song you’ve heard many times before. He makes each song, from Dylan to Little Feat to Hendrix and more, his own, with variations of rhythm, vocals, and melody that bring them new life. Listeners often comment, when hearing him play a song by another artist, “He does that better than the original!”
As always, shows are all ages and free for everyone!
